Message: I want to drop my 98'3.9, but i don't know how low. I would also like to bag it. I have 20s' so that plays a little role in deciding what to get. Any suggestions would be great. Also where can i look for kits like this? any and all help would be great. Thanx.

Message: 20's dont really play a big role in a drop. you just have to get the right tire. i have a 4/6 drop on mine with 20's
if you are going to bagg it, and want it to lay frame, you will have to do some cutting.
where does body dropping come into play?

Message: on a 4/6 you will have to notch the frame for axle clearence.
if you want to lay frame on 20's there is major cutting involved. you will have to step notch the frame, cut the cinter of the bed out, notch the cab for driveshaft clearence, tub the rear fenders, and cut out the front fenders.
you will have to relocate the battery to the bed, relocate the PCM, break components (abs sensor's lines, ect...) and relocate the fuse box. and thats about it

Message: I had a 98 s-10 dropped 4/5, and it was
sweet! too bad it was gutless and small. No
cutting involved, I ran a 235/45/17 wheel and
tire. The tires rubbed in the front, every once
in a while, you just have to take out the extra
screws that are exposed in the fender well, if
not, the tire catches on them and jerks the
steering wheel (not fun while driving on the
freeway)
S-10's are the most common and popular
sport truck to customize, plenty of parts, much
cheaper to mod than a dak, just too common
for my liking, and like I said, too small and
gutless! I like my dak soooo much more than
the s-10, comfort and power * yumm! *

Message: No they don't make them i was thinking it was a newer model my bad. if you still want to cutsomise the rear end though the only way to go is to iether shave them or mist them with paint so they will blend in with the paint job.

Message: hey another idea is if the frame is the same and the beds are the same you could get a newer model bed to replace with your old one then you could use newer lights but you may have to replumb the gas hose and change tailight connectors but hey its an idea!

Message: for the guys asking about lowering options
http://www.sportruck.com/howto/suspension.htm
i have a 99 dakota extended cab with the 5.2 and i lowered my truck 3/5 $25. i think its about as low as you can get without notching the frame and still riding good. i cut 1 rap off my springs in front and got 1 inch blocks, cut holes 2 inches lower on my stock hangers(there is already a hole in the frame for access to the leaf spring bolt, it was asking for it), and took out the leaf spring 2nd from the bottom. you have to cut your bump stops but thats about it, it rode fine when i had the stock 235/75/15's on there so i'm sure there is room for bigger od and width.
and about the s10, my friend dropped his 2002 extended cab step side s10 4/5 and its perfect. its really low but not too low. but like pretty much anything thats been dropped, it scrapes sometimes if he is going faster than he should be over a nasty bump or something. but nothing bad. he put 2 inch coil springs and 2 inch spindals up front, and 3 inch leaf springs and 2 inch blocks in back.
