im lowereing the from of my 92 dodge dakot and im just swaping the springs but i need to get the shock out. seems simple enough well i go to unscrew the top of the shock and it will not break loose. i dont understand i work on cars everyday and this nut wont come off is there anything you can tell me its really starting to piss me off and i dont wont my truck siting on jack stands when i can be driving it thank you

you are going to slap yourself in the head when you hear this one, i know i did when i couldnt figure it out. What you are doing is causing the shock to rotate inside the tube. now on the top of the shock there is a flat area where you can take a set of locking pliers and hold the shock to not rotate as you loosen the bolt with a normal wrench (do not use a socket wrench, it will not work unless you are using it to tighten the bolt only)
