Subject: I'm gonna lower. What should i use? IP: Logged
Message: here is my truck: 2000 CC RT on 20" w/ 275-45-R20
http://www.sounddomain.com/id/italianrt2000
Im planning on changing the tires to a 35 or 40 series I cant remember the size but I already have seen them, they give me an Extra 2"
O.K. here is my problem. I'm a stereo guy not a suspension guy. I've been reading and learning alot about suspension. Here what im thinking about doing(keyword thinking), nothing is in stone.
I want to put my truck on air. I want to go with bags up front and air shocks(modified air inlets) in back. Then Once i'm back to the mainland I will C-notch and bag the back.
My room-mate has a Mitsu on air, he says that I should lower the truck, then put the bags in, to raise from there. He says this will save my tires, if im going to be riding most of the time with it lowered(makes sense to me).
So I was thinking drop spindles in the front. But after reading about the dakota front end, drop A-arms may be the way to go. As for the back, I'm not sure the best way the get 3 inches.
So to sum up, money is no object, what should I do to lower my RT 2/3"(3/4" for a regular dakota)??
Any ideas or advice would be great. thanks

Message: For the rear, shackles and hangers will be the best. I'm not sure if they have adjustable ones that can get you 3", but you'd have to check. I know that they have 4" ones.
Now, in the front, you can't do drop spindles, because they do not sell gen3 spindles for daks. Go Lower control arms. They will be used when you bag it anyway.
The thing abouting "lowering before you bag it" is....you're going to have to replace everything anyway. If you want to get LOW, you'll have to 4 or 2 link the rear (thereby negating the whole shackle/hanger setup) anyway. Same with the front. Just bags on the control arms.
If I were you, I'd just bag it right off.

Message: djm offers a 3" drop with the lower control arms. if you want it to lay frame, dont lower it first.

Message: Do your 275's rub with that R/T suspension? I have a QC with 20s and I put some 245/40's on it. Now I'm going to drop it with an R/T suspension and im just wondering if I can fit the 275's whenever my low pros go out so I don't have to spend another $800.

Message: sorry I disagree, if you want to lower it before you bag it, you should. It can be cheaper if you do it right. Use control arms but do not buy springs (cheaper, yet you still need the lower arms for bags...) In the back you will need hangers if you plan on doing a trailing arm setup or use blocks for the time being.
