Subject: so u wanna bag your truck... IP: Logged
Message: ok... I'M SERIOUSLY NOT TRYING TO BE A DICK, I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP PEOPLE OUT...
that being said, it seems like ALOT of ppl want to bag their trucks, but don't know much (if anything) about it. Think twice about it!
from personal experience: my friend and i knew a little bit about bags; we had a few "friends" that had them, we knew the basics, but not much else. well, he got his s10 bagged (ALOT easier/ more common than dakotas. decent price, decent parts, not so decent install by a local shop...but we couldn't tell! no MAJOR problems, but a bunch of annoying little ones.....some we (I, and some other friends) could figure out and fix, some we couldn't). enough that it made him SELL his bagged, shaved s10! AND TRADE IT IN FOR A STOCK-ASS PROTEGE'!! (it's nice, but come on) he had his truck for about 3 months bagged b4 he sold it.
the thing is, from that 3 months of my best friend havin a bagged truck, and seeing exactly how things worked (or didn't work), and from even more RESEARCH at shows and with friends trucks, and others...i now am confident that i can bag my truck myself, except for the welding; more importantly, I know how to fix any problems that may come up.
SO... i guess i'm suggesting that if u want to bag your truck, find out EVERYTHING u can BEFORE u bag it. (www.streetsourcemag.com is a good place, among others). AND!! don't just save up for bags! save up for bags AND THEN SOME!! cuz something may very well go wrong!! that was one mistake my friend made (probably the biggest). Of course, u could just be one of those ppl, if u have enuff money, just bag it, and pay them every time something goes wrong. but i know that's not most ppl. (just alot of kids down here! unfortunately)
i'm not even totally sure why i wrote this, but THERE IT IS! :) i hope it helps someone!!...and doesn't piss off anyone(for whatever reason) :)
PEACE!

Message: About the saving up and then some quote. That is a good idea, I dont care what kit you buy, once you have all the stuff, your local hardware store will become your best friend. I changed all my fittings to compression fittings eliminating leaks. Also you should be experienced with wiring before you tackle this project. The wiring of valves is simple but when it comes to the compressors and pressure switches have fun.

Message: I knwo it was just some good advice but i havn't had one major problem with my setup, If it is done right it will work right. Just have to make sure you get the quality stuff. 1. You shouldn't buy stuff from AIM. 2. If you pay a cheap price for someone else to do it expect it to be cheaply done. 3. Some if not most places will warranty there work especially if there are a well known shop, and if you get the kit from Air Ride Tech. it will be warrantied. 3. Dakota's are basically the same as an s-10, it's not that hard and the suspension dynamics aren't that different. I had mine done at DNDKUTOMZ.COM there is the shop name and website, Down-n-Dirty Kustomz. Bagged with 1/2 smc valves, 1/2 line, viaiar 450 compressor 10 switches, 5 gallon tank, all art stuff, labor and install was under 4500 with a year warranty parts and labor. I don't regret paying such a high price since it was warrantied! But the work was excellent, proffesional and within the time limit i gave the owner. But like you said for anyone wanting this done yeah do the research, if you live in a cold climate and will be having to drive it in the winter the valves or line will freeze. Get a water trap. it helps, and it will save your valves too. I have more to say but don't want to write a novel! check out the website he did some awsome work! He is no longer in bussiness cuz it was costing him too much to run it, plus he had another job that took up more time. this was a weekend bussiness and it was draining him. But i'm sure he would do some side jobs every once in a while for someone.

Message: I haven't had anything go wrong with mine as well and I installed everything myself. BUT...... I researched it for 4 months and had prior training in metal working from the airforce. Know your limits and research, research, research would be my 2 cents. Nothing wrong with taking it to a RESPECTABLE shop. But if you done your research you should know what is respectable and not.
I still have sheets of paper with every component I needed and where to get it with prices, how to build it, and so on
Ohhhhh and ACE is the place lol

Message: Anyone know anybody looking for some parts? I have a billet grille from trenz that i never used, still in box, A belltech 2/4 drop kit, that i also never used since i got my truck bagged, that is still in the box also. I also have some 17' mkw mk9 chrome wheels with toyo proxe tires, rims and tires are a year and 2 months old never driven in snow. I'm looking for 18-22 wheels or audio equipment, I am willing to trade this stuff so i can get it out of my house and to someone that will actually use it. I am mostly interested in wheels and tires.

Message: I totaly agree with everyone here. I know that pappie and ufdakota know there stuff. Im guessing dan has been reaserching bags for a LOOOOOONG time. Knowing all this and not even being bagged yet..... He will be ready when hes done. Know what your doing before you do it. I did the front on my truck and would do the back if I could weld. So i did half of my truck. If your not comfortable doing it go to a shop that you have seen their work, talked to others who have had stuff done by them and so forth. Know what your getting yourself into before. Once you start cutting and welding its alot to go back.
