Subject: Air Bag Components IP: Logged
Message: I'm somewhat interested in getting an air bag suspension for my '01 quad cab. The only thing ive been able to find though is an entire kit for about $1,100. I was going to try and make my own system but I need some help on What all the components are. All I'm asking for is a list of what all I need to make my truck pancake with a stock right height. I don't want it to lay frame or hop or anythign klike that, I just want a bad ass right.

Message: You will need 4 bags, compressor, tank, pressure switch, valves, line and fittings, metal and tools.
If you just want to do pancake all you need is 2 valves. One for up and one for down. I wouldn't recommend this. I would at least do 4 valves, so you can adjust the front and rear individually. If you don't care about speed, you can run manual valves.
There are a lot of different components you can buy and upgrade your kit.

Message: If you dont want anything special bag wise id go with air ride technologies. They have everything engineered for the daks ready to go. I believe someone that works there has a quad cab with it. It will get you low, good ride and all the guess work is done. Its stuff that you can do with a buddy in your driveway in a day or 2. www.airride.com I personaly would use 8 valves (4 fill and 4 dump) because if you use 4 (2 fill 2 dump which is used for front back) you will get air transfer from bag to bag when turning. If you use 8 valves you have an individual line going to each back so the air cannot transfer. But go to www.airride.com and that should answer most of your questions. My quad cab is going in sometime next week to get the back done (fronts done) If you have ne questions hit me up norcalrydesdak@aol.com late

Message: i've NEVER heard anyone do it like that, plus, then it'd shift front to back like crazy when u accelerate or brake. and i think it'd just be a plain B*TCH hooking it up that way.
u CAN do just 4 valves (front fill+dump and rear fill+dump), and take care of the problem of air shifting side to side by using some check valves for each corner (1 each side after it splits to left/right, before it gets to the valves). the check valves just let air flow one way (to the bags) and not shift side to side when the weight shifts (turning). I forget where i saw them online, on some air suspension shop's site; but u should be able to find them somewhere else.
the air shifting side to side really isn't tooo bad. if u use some stiff shocks, it shouldn't be too bad at all. since u basically just want it to be adjustable, air ride technologies, like blackdak said, should be good for u. it's probably a little expensive, but i think it's just what you're looking for. peace
