Subject: Help with installing my drop IP: Logged
Message: I just got my kit in the mail today, and was wondering what's the best way to go about putting it on. It's a 3/5, arms and shackles/hangers with new shocks all around. I have minimal suspension experience, al least with a truck.
If I would have a shop do it, what kind of price am I looking at? and:
If I would install it at home, about how long would it take 3 guys with some suspension experience to do it?
Any help is greatly apreciated.

Message: It will take you a while. You will have to grind off the factory rivets in the hangers. The easiest way to do that would be to take the bed off. I did mines with springs in the front so i don't know how long the front will take. Good luck.

Message: your probally looking at around $300 (that being the very low end) to $500. those are prices based on 80/hr labor, what my friend got quoted for installation of his drop on his silverado from many places.
installing its pretty easy, i say this because all you are doing is taking out a part, then replacing it. grinding the rivets is definately a PITA, it took me a couple hours to do it on my truck.

Message: Thanks for the info. I'm only concerned because this is my daily driver, so I can't be without it for more than maybe a day or two.

Message: If you're concerned about time, then just do the front one day, then the rear another. That's what I did with mine. I only had the funky stance for 2 days, and it wasn't bad at all.
That way, you don't have to have it out of comission while your life still runs.

Message: we did my friends silverado in a night, most of the time was spent trying to get those fuggin bushings in the shocks, the other majority was spent grinding the rivets.
i did my dak in two day, spent an afternoon on the rear, took a break, got back on it the next morning. its an easy weekend thing, plan about 10 hrs (will prolly come out to much less.

Message: Thanks. By the way, does anyone have a link to somewhere on the web that has pictures of the installation? We're probably gonna put it on this weekend, but I just wanted to make sure I know what I'm doing.
