Message: Go a 3/5 drop. For some reason you dont rub with a 3/5, but you do with a 2/4 with stock tires. So I hear anyway

How will lowering his truck an inch more all around keep him from rubbing? Please explain.

Message: simple as running a smaller tire, you say you run 255/65-17 but i think you mean a 16" wheel
anyways that's a big as tire with any drop and it's more likely to rub
changet to a lower profile tire when you change them like a 55 series or even 60 series

Message: im pretty sure you wont find anyone lowered at all running that tire size on a dakota. those things are 30" tall! 2 inches taller then a stock r/t height tire. i hate to say it, but the only way your gonna get rid of rubbing is get shorter tires or lift it back to stock!

Message: Where are you rubbing? Are you hitting the top of the fender well or are your tires nailing the side edge/seam of the fender?

Message: hotshotmike,
Like everyone said, yo will have to change the tire size or u could try many small things. First off, check to see how much gap there is between the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender. Then, look under the truck and see how much room there is between the top of the bumpstop to the bottom of the frame.
If there is more room from the top of the bumpstop to the top bottom of the frame, then you are going to rub. You most likely need bigger bump stops
that may not stop the rubbing though. if it still seems to rub, then you are going to have gashes in your tires like i have in mine

Message: I have 255/55/18's (same height as my stock 255/65/16's) with a Hotchkis 2/4 drop, and there's no rubbing... OK, well maybe with 3 or 4 hefty people and only over severe dips. otherwise... no rubbing at all.
It seems to me that either you used lowered A-arms w/ stock coils (too soft) or you used coils that dropped it more than 2".
Your choices will likely be:
a) Go with stiffer front coils
b) Opt fot a smaller tire
c) Mark where your tire is rubbing, and break out the Dremel

Message: Broeheem - your tires are over an inch shorter then his, giving you an extra half inch of clearance to rub. thats a pretty big amount, think how much clearance you would have if you moved your tire .5" higher into the fender.

Message: once again, how much bumpstop is left? If you cut the whole thing off, even with a 1 inch drop you will still rub. Thats the whole point of the bump stop. At any rate, Going to a larger tyre size probably makes the ride a little easier on your fillings but cut your clearance in half. Do a few burnouts and rotate your tyres to get some of that diameter down.

Message: Its simple like everyone keeps sayin cut out the fender wells or i would go to a 35 or 45 series tire. Face it your gonna end up changing the size tire so just get over it dry the tears and press on.

Message: you should have measured from the ground to the fender lip before you dropped it, then measured it again after you lowered it. that would be the only way to know how your track actually dropped. in your case though, i would get smaller tires and maybe put the bumpstops back in. if you took them out.
