Subject: r/t wheels and tire wear

Message:
I have a 98 CC 3.9 with chrome 17x9 r/t wheels. I have 275/40/17 tires and I burn through the front tires in like 4-5 months. The outside of the tires are what wears so badly. I have 2 in. blocks on the rear and a heavy toneau cover that makes my rear sit about 2 1/2 in below normal. The front now looks higher than the back. I was thinking that if I got R/T coils and aligned the front to r/t specs that it would then take care of my tire wear problem and drop the front an inch to level my truck out. The problem is though that the r/t is a hell of alot heavier in the front than mine so will I acctually get any drop out of doing this? Are there any other problems with this that anyone might know about? Also if it will take care of my tire wear problem but won't drop my truck could i get 2 in. control arms with the r/t springs and then drop the back a little more to make it even. If this is what i need to do than how much will the 2in arms and r/t springs drop the front? Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

whenever you make any suspension mods, get the truck to a shop for minute alignment issues, its not rolling right.

RT coils will raise the front of your truck. They
didn't drop the front of my 4.7 quad at all. I
had to cut to get a 2" drop. I'd just cut your
stock springs to get a small drop. I'll bet 1/4 of
a complete coil would get an inch or so of
drop. Wrap some wet rags around the spring
near the cut and use a 4.5" grinder with a
cutting wheel. It'll work great and won't cost a
dime.(except for a new alignment)

I've got RT wheels and 255-60-17 toyos and
my fronts like to feather-edge a bit, cause I
had them dial in some extra caster when I got
it aligned, but not bad.

If you're wearing out the fronts that fast
something is really screwed up.

Later,
Lemmers
