Subject: 2"/3" Drop IP: Logged
Message: I know this question has been answered a million times, but I have read a lot of posts and still can't decide on which kit to get.
I have a 97' Dakota Sport Regular Cab 2wd, 3.9L V6. And I want a 2"/3" Drop. I have heard that Hotchkis is the best for performance, but not necessarily for ride quality.
I just want the 2"/3" drop no other parts (swaybars etc..). But I want the ride to be either better or the same as stock. Performance is not really an issue, but ride quality is. I have heard that DJM, but they only offer 2/4 kits. Godfathercustoms.com has a Ground Force Kit 2/2 or 2/3 or 2/3.5, how is their kits?
I just ordered the 17x9 R/T rims and I am going to get Toyo Proxes S/T at 255/60/17. This won't rub will it?
Sorry for the long post, I just want to get a lot of info and options for this drop on my truck.
Thanks all!

Message: buy a 2" lower control arm, and a 3" block. The
block will make the rear a little stiffer but not
much. The 17" wheel/tires shouldnt rub, but
you might want to go with 255/50/17 or
255/55/17
havent heard anything about the ground force
kit, personally I would go with DJM or Western
Chassis. DJM control arms are a little beafier,
and have better welds, but both make good
kits.

Message: I just ordered the ground force kit. Coils and
leafs. 3" in blocks is too much. the leafs will
hang low and it will look stupid. use shackles
if you want a facory ride with dropped style.
Leafs if you want a firmer ride.
Ill let you know how it goes . i also ordered r/t
rims.
we just got 90cm of snow in last week!

Message: I just lowered my 92 Dakota CC with 3" blocks in the rear and EIBACH springs up front and I haven't noticed any real ride difference. As for the springs hanging lower it is true but i found it acceptable. But i can tell you this She sure does look awesome as Hell. Plus i also have the DAKOTA R/T wheels in CROME and what a difference they made I would go with a 255/55/17 or 255/50/17 to keep the rolling diameter the same. Hope this Helps Mike

Message: I have a DJM 2/3 with a arms and rear blocks. Blocks suck much stiffer. If you plan on stopping at 2/3 I would get hotchkis springs. The a arms increase turning radious so that means no more u turns! I will be going to a 3-5 when I get my 19's that is why I didnt care much abbout having bocks in back for now. And a arms are a must for a 3 inch drop in front.

Message: yes, your tires will rub. I have the hotchkis 2/3 with 255/55/17's and over every larger bump they rub. get low pros, they look better. or at least get a little smaller of a sidewall.

| Hotchkis kit 4 sale IP: Logged
Message: I have the Hotchkis kit you need. It came off my 97 RC 3.9l and will only fit that. I am in cali and would prefer not to ship since they are so heavy. Here is what is included:
Springs for front
Rear Leaf Springs
Rear Sway bar
Front Bilstein Shocks
The kit was on for a little under a year and has been sitting in my garage. You may need to buy some misc. bolts and the front sway bar. The front Bilsteins only have about 10,000 miles on them if that much.
I'll sell the kit for $325 if you pick it up and $500 shipped

Message: I have the 2/3 drop using the front A arm and leaf springs in the rear. I will probably change the rear to the shackle kit using the factory leafs in the future b/c it's a little to rough in the rear and will not carry the weight like the stock leafs.

Message: Does anyone know anything about AIM springs (justcoilsprings.com). They've got great prices ($69 for a pair of drop coils, $119 for pair of drop leafs) but I'm wondering about the quality.

Message: Offroad322:
Don't get too cheap with your suspension or you'll end up with a cheap ride. Hotchkis is the best, hands down. The performance is sweet and the ride quality is just as good or better than the other companies mentioned above. If you need move convincing go over to an R/T forum and see how many of them have the Hotchkis(and love the ride quality). If the ride quality was that bad, do you think it would be the most wanted kit on the market? Smokindakota's kit is a great deal, plus you get a rear swaybar(what a difference it makes) and two shocks.
As far as the tires go, the 255/60 will hit the inside fender lip. The 255/55, which is the stock r/t size, will rub the lip unless you use the Hotchkis alignment specs. To guarentee no hitting or rubbing go with a 255/50 and use the Hotchkis specs. The 255/50 (check out the Nittos!) is made by more companies so the price on these tires should be cheaper than the 55 series.

Message: I was told buy the guys at Premier Automotive to take a stiff rubber mallet and hammer back the lip. Be careful but they said that will avoid the rubbing. I am getting 20's so I am worried too of course. Research everything!!!!!!
