Subject: Shocks for a lowered 4x4 Durango/Dakota IP: Logged
Message: Need some help with this one.
Does anyone no where to get some shorter shocks for a lowered 4x4. I lowered the rear of my 4x4 Durango with 3" blocks and the front about 2 1/2 inches using the torsion bar.
DTech said they don't have any. Any suggestions out there?
Thanks,

Or just put all the empty 40's in the back, that'll help too.

As for the 4x4 shocks, have you looked for any shock mount extenders? They allow you to use your factory shocks by lowering the bottom mounting point. I'm not sure if they are made for 4x4s, but if you can't find any lowered 4x4 shocks, that that might be your only option.

Message: There aren't too many lowered 4x4s. But there are enough that there should be some shocks available. I guess you'll just have to look around.

Message: Why are you trying to use a 4x4 for this project? It would be far easier for you if you started with a 4x2.

Message: True, but do you think it's wise of him to sell his 4x4 just so he can spend MORE money on a 4x2 to do his lowering? Sometimes you have to work with what you have.
Which brings me to another point. Why does everyone throw a little pussy fit everytime someone wants to drop a 4x4. Just shut the hell up and let them do what they want. It's not your truck, so don't tell him what to do with it.
Not directed at you Bobo33. I'm talking about the 8 year olds (or the ones that seem like it) and say stupid sh!t under a false name, just because they think they're clever. Geeze

Message: Well, I figure that with the higher resale value a 4x4 has, he should be able to sell it and pick up a fully loaded 4x2 of the same year for the same amount or cheaper. Might even make a few bucks for his mods. Seems to me like he's shooting himself in the foot, spending the extra money to lower a 4x4 when in my opinion he could sell it, pick up a comparable 4x2 and possible have enough left over to drop the 4x2. That's all I'm saying, but he can do whatever he wants of course.

Message: maybe you should just sell your dak.... get a s-10? You sould defently get a fullyloaded s-10 for the resale of your dak PLUS they make all kinds of kits for a s-10. Hell, I bet you can get a kit to swap the front clip to a dak? Might sound like going backwards to you, but to me... it only makes sense. Or we could solve all of this and just drop a 4x4 and be .... I don't know ..... different? Thats all I'm saying. Don't answer back... just leave it be clownboy!

Message: Let me squash this gentleman. Why don't all of you take a look at the customizations I have done to my 4x4 vehicle. Please imagine the time it took and what would be involved in dismantling my current vehicle and reassembling the mods on a 2x4. Now if you were me would you sell my 4x4 for a 2x4 just because it is easier to lower? My guess is no...

Message: Jeff,
If you're talking about the cooling issue I was having then the answer is sort of.
I took of the Flex a Lite electric fan and put the stock fan and shroud back on. But with the power pulleys on my water pump is still pulling slower than stock... so I've got a Dodge Viper electric fan and a flow kooler water pump sitting in my garage. I'm going to put them on when I get my "massaged" M1 back. Right now I'm running a steady 190 to 200 and with the new fan and pump will hopefully be constant at 180.
Still looking for shock advice anyone. I've heard Toyota shocks might work but I have no idea on a part number. I need 2" shorter shocks for the front and the rear of my Durango 4x4. Help with this is appreciated...

Message: Just an update over a year later...
I figured out what Douesch Tech shocks would work that were 2"s lower and went with that.
I'm swapping them out know for either a set of 2wd Bilts which are 1" shorter or the Hotchkis/Bilt ST front shocks and the rear 2wd Bilts.
