Subject: What to do about hitting bumpstops ... IP: Logged
Message: Since putting the DJM 2-3 drop kit plus the Toxic Shocks front and back on my 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T CC, I bottom out in the back HARD. I'm wondering if anyone knows what to do the stiffen up the ass end of the truck to not make it hit the bumpstops without C-notching. (I try not to hit all the bumps and dips in the road) I've heard a Air Shock thats sold by Napa can fix this. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Message: Don't those require you to drill a whole directly above the axle, so they'll fit on?
I'm just wondering, caue i'll have to score a good drill before i can think about getting those.

Message: im not sure, but they are 17 dollars, but SH is 16!! the stock bumpstops on the rear of our daks have 2 bolts right? so i think u are correct about drilling the hole, unless u might be able to fit 2 of those new ones next to each other, so u would be one pair per side.

Message: Ouch, $16 shipping!
I think i saw those flat, hard urthane ones at autozone for like $10. So I might just do that instead. Much cheaper.

Message: I don't want to hit the bumpstops so what should I do? Why would u suggest that I cut the bumpstops? I have the low cut hard bumpstops on there now. Would the soft ones work so I wouldn't notice? I mean I've hit the rear end hard enough to make the CD player skip.

Message: yea, that's what i had to do. switched to smaller soft bumpstops. works perfect. stops right before the tire would hit the wheel well, even with a 32' boat on the back. good luck man.

Message: Well, i was going to get them, but i switched out my shocks (which i could compress without any strain) with some that WORK. So i don't bottom out anymore. Meh.

Message: So what's the best route to take? I just did a 3 3 drop on my Durango and cut the bump stops. I'm hitting pretty hard in the rear and I'm running 23s.
What should I do?

Message: So where do you get some "softies"?... and how do I know that they are the right size for my '99 Dodge Durango with 32" diameter rims and tires?
Thanks in advance.
