So this is what I plan on getting. For now I want the Hotchkis 2/3 drop. Not the TVS. I already have KYB Monomax shocks (brand new) and Roadmaster Active Suspension. So the Hotchkis kit should actually drop me 2/2.5. Will the ride be much different with the KYB's rather than the hotchkis Bilsteins? I'm probably going to go with R/T tire/rims.

What type of Dakota do you have? If you have a regular Dakota Sport, SXT, or SLT, the Hotchkis kit will drop you a full 2" in the front and a full 3" in the rear. The ride is going to be ALOT stiffer but the handling will be perfect. There will hardly be any body roll and you can fly around turns without a problem.
If you get some R/T rims and 255/55/17 or 255/50/17 tires, it will look really good. To me, any size of tire smaller would look bad. And any size bigger in tire might have a chance of rubbing. If you have anymore questions, ask away. Hope this helped you a little...

Yeah it definitely helped. I'm still tossing around the idea of doing the drop. Right now I have a 5.25" gap in the front wheel well and a 7.75 gap in the rear wheel well with the 235/65-15's that i'm running right now. If I get the drop and the r/t rims with 255/55-17 rubber i'll have a 2.25" gap in front and a 4.25 gap in the back due to the RAS that I currently have and will be running with the hotchkis if I get it.
I'm still thinking about just getting some 1" drop blocks to even the back out a bit and getting the hotchkis anti-sways. I need to get my new tires and rims first I think.
I'm alot more of a function over form guy. I just want it to handle well. If it looks good I won't be pissed. For now I've run out of tire options for my little 15x7's...its time for something better.

Here's my dak with the Hotchkis 2/3 drop. Mine actually dropped about 2.5/3.5 when i measured it. I put the R/T rims on with the Kumho 711's (255/55R17) The truck really handles now. I have the nitro active drop shocks up front and right now i'm running Air shocks in the back, i used to run the nitro active drop shocks in the back but i put on the air shocks because i had lot of towing to do and with the weight in the bed and trailer the new hotchkis springs couldn't hold it. Anyhow it still handles really good with the air shocks, i'll be switching back the the nitro actives though.

And you have no rubbing at all? Thats my main concern. Also turning radius. Was that effected? S. Florida is the land of the u-turn. You have to make them everywhere.
What made yours drop 2.5/3.5? I think mine will only end up being a 2/2.5. Which is fine by me.

I've dropped a couple trucks, one used 2" drop spindles to maintain the stock ride, and the other used 2" drop springs/shocks on the front. The spindles caused a loss in turning radius but had a smoother ride; the springs/shocks did not change the turning radius but did make the ride stiffer.

Nah, springs wont hurt your turning radius. Mine was fine. I like to travel in my truck and I get lost often, so u-turns are a way of life for me.
I had 5 guys ~850 pounds total in the back of my truck eating lunch at an overcrowded lunch BBQ for my work. The Roadmaster really does help..

TVS kit with 275/50/17's on R/T wheels... it turns just fine and no rubbing.. this is on a CC.. very nice kit.

Will 295/40/17s fit ok on the R/T rims? I would like to run a full 11" or more tire, which isn't too much more than the 10.8" or whatever it is now.
Just saving up for some SO3s..

I can tell ya that the roadmaster on the hotchkis is the way to go. I installed it on my Quad Cab and before when i towed my camper the back would sag now it don't move when i put it on there and it rides nice. it also helps with wheel hop and axel wrap it really helps at the track for traction.

I have a '00 2wd 4.7L CC w/ 235/65-15's all around. My current suspension mods are a Roadmaster Active Suspension in back and KYB Monomax shocks all around.
My current tire/well gap up front is 5" and 7.75" out back.
My idea is: Would putting R/T coils up front and hotchkis leafs out back give me my desired lowering (1/3). I plan on 255/55-17's on r/t rims here soon. With this in mind my gaps would potentially close to 3.00" front/3.75" back.
Will r/t coils actually give me a full inch up front considering the 4.7L weighs less than the 5.9L? Also...where can you get just r/t coils?

Best place to get R/T coils is from R/T owners. Go to the R/T forum or ask here if anyone has any coils to sell. You do know that the Hotchkis coils drop us (4.7s) 2". The R/Ts are only dropped one inch.

i was wondering if someone had lowered their truck with the hotchkis and wanted just a little more? i would like to lower 1 more inch all the way around but wonder if the hotchkis shocks won't go to crap? other than that i have had no problem with the hotchkis setup it works great and was easy to put on (except for the rusted bolt, but it's a 97 so it's seen a few winters) any help would be appreciated

Another inch would be nice on mine too, but I don't want to screw with the geometry. I like my turning radius and pinion angle right now.

The thing is I just don't ever want to have to worry about hitting the bump stops or grounding out strange. Plus, down here in S. Florida has been getting so much rain lately that we're about under water. I'd still like to be able to take a large puddle like a truck and not have to pussy foot around it.
