Subject: 2600lb bags on front, cut spring pocket? IP: Logged
Message: Is there a way that i can run firestone 2600's on front without cuttin the spring pocket. All the daks that ive looked at with 2600's on front had the spring pocket. I can make custom cups if i need to, i just realllllly dont want to have to cut them. Also i heard if you use 2500's u dont have to, if theres no way for 2600's to fit, would 2500's b ok ok a 4.7L quad cab? Thanx ahead of time guys

Message: If you use the AirRide Technologies kit you need to cut the pockets, and you need to cut alot.
I'm not sure about 2500 lb bags, but I would love to know, because I know I am in the danger zone when I lay it out.
Brislands makes a kit that doesn't require the frame to be cut (I wish I would have known about it before I did my truck!!!) Here are some pics of it:
They are a really good company to deal with, I just ordered my C-notch from them. www.brislands.com

Message: Dont quote me because there is not a lot of feedback from bagged Dakotas on here, but I think its about impossible to have bags without cutting in the front. I have the same kit as Ian and there was quite a bit to cut. The 2600lb bags are even bigger therefore that would be more to cut. Just my 2 cents worth, but if you are going to spend all the money you may as well do it right. The ART front kit is awesome, especially with the shocks. (Ian I owe you pics man, email me because I lost your address).

It is very possible to run 2500 lb bags, in fact I just ordered a set for the front of my truck, because of the rub issues. The pictures about are of an un-cut frame with brislands brackets and 2500 lb bags.

Message: Thanx guys, I emailed brisland customs and they said that they do have a cup set that is made so that you do not have to cut. By the pics there it looks like a 2600 would fit on those too. I have a v8, its a small one but its still a v8, but i think the 2500's will be alright if i need to beacause of clearence problems. Does the ART kit come w/ 2500 bags? They design all that stuff to work right, so im guessing that if they use a 2500 that its alright........ just a though.
thanks guys

Message: The ART kit does not come with bags, but they reccomend 2600lb bags, but after installing the 2600's I would deffinately reccomend the 2500lb bags. I have a CC V6.

Message: Damn, that brislands kit looks good! Any of u know if those relocated shocks rub? I figure there's gotta be a way to relocate and not lose your turning radius, but so far i haven't seen it. thanks. peace

Message: I got Airlift 2B6 up front. They are the same size as the 2500. I also have a v-8 and I get plenty of lift. Its like 9" or something I didn't have to trime much at all, just a little around the front lip.

Message: How in the hell are you getting 9 inches of lift in the front with a v-8. I got slam specialties and i have to hit 150psi to get around 6. Not calling you a liar just curious, hell i might change my setup when you explain this to me.

Message: I got a set of s-10 brackets. the o.d. is alot smaller than dakota and the upper pockets are offset soooooo you crank them around to the inner side of your upper pockets, weld a 1" spacer on top or bottom...... and BLAM.....9" @ 170psi Its just sets the bags closer to the inside of your center body. If it makes you feel any better... I only get 6" in the rear( i think)

Message: The question is why do you want that much lift? I would rather have the clearance so that I can drive low with out rubbing the bag on the frame (like my truck does on the drivers side with 2600 lb bags, even after we cut sooooooooooooooo much out of the frame.)

Message: Cause if your bodydropped on 20's, it takes a a$$ load of lift to untuck them. I have never seen 11 inches of lift on a Dakota in the front. And on top of that you have a 360. Show me some pics of that setup.

Should be w/in the next week or 2 and i will let you know how it goes. Gonna be running a 5 gallon tank at 175 psi with a viair 450 compressor, firestone 2500lbs bags with probably smc 1/2" valves and 1/2" line. What do you guys think? Should be pretty quick I hope.

Message: I just put the 2500 lb bags on the front of my truck, i like them alot, lots of cleaance, and they are nice and stiff at a low stance (unline the 2600's) but they need sooooooo much pressure to raise, I'm at 105 to get it to ride height, where it used to be 85. But it forsure handles so much better.

Message: ian, don't even worry about 105 psi! that's really nothing. I'm actually surprised that's all it takes; it took about 120psi for my friends s10 at ride height. You should be able to ride even higher if u wanted or need to. just thought i'd let u know. peace

Message: Yes, the 2500lb bags are awesome, I will agree it takes a little pressure to get them up but the ride is really smooth with the shocks as well. What kind of compressor do you have? Also the wiring is a bit** for the compressor, have fun...lol
