Let's see, A breaker bar, A 1/2 inch drive ratchet with assorted shallow and deep well sockets up to 1 1/8 in. Castle nuts on the ball joints are the biggest ones. You will need several jacks, a spring compressor (unless your good with the jack and can lower the spring out without hurting anyone), a air chisel, a 4 1/2in. grinder with abrasives, a very stout drill with assorted bits. A sawzall. This should just about cover it except for screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers, you know.....the normal everyday stuff. You probably won't need the drill or sawzall if you don't notch the rear. Good Luck.

don't bother with the spring compressor... when you lower the arm it will drop all spring tension before the spring is even close to popping out. Other than that it's not dificult just take your time.

When you loosen the castle nut on the lower arm connected to the spindle and pound away on that lower arm, when the lower arm breaks lose and swings down, the coil is coming out. Drop coils fall out into your lap but stock coils will shoot out like a missle. Best to loosen the nut but don't take it all the way off and then take a 3lb hammer and nail the lower arm till you see it break free. (By break free, I mean the ball joint on the arm seperates from the spindle) Then support the lower arm with a jack and loosen the nut all the way off. Then let the jack down slowly and the spring will fall in your lap.

front is a cake, the most confusing part is how to get that balljoint apart. pound right above it with a nice sledge hammer till it pops. keep the jack under it with slight pressure, so when it pops, it still holds. like the said, let the jack down slowly. my drivers passengers side basically fell right out, after i tugged on it. drivers side i had to pry out, but there was no stored energy.

what does the 5 inch rear drop composed of? shackles/hangers? might wanna take off the bed (i think its 8 bolts) and drop the gas tank to make life easier! not nessecary, but makes things go alot smooother. have fun!

Have you took a look at the driver's side hanger? If you did you wouldn't be asking that question.

lol, ya, look where the gas tank is located. there is no way your getting the old bolt off, and the new bolt in without dropping it a lil bit, or all the way. if its shackles (what holds the leafs in the rear) you have no problem. you also gotta remember these gas tanks are plastic (i think??) so a nice heated chunk of metal could go through it. lol, if you dont take the tank out and move it completley away, keep wet towels covering it.

just checked, theres 8 bolt on a 97+ equal distance apart, they arent hard to find. where are you from, corey? maybe someone would be willing to help.
