Subject: labor cost on drop IP: Logged
Message: I just had a 3-5 djm drop done on my 02 qc with lowered control arms. The shop had to drop the fuel tank and had to elongate the upper control arms so caster and camber would align. I was charged 625 dollars for labor with the alignment. Did I pay too muck. thanks

Message: I am not sure on that price, it seems a bit high. I know the gas tank part is about right though. The guy at work that installed my kit was very careful when he did mine because of the lack of room near the gas tank for installing the left hanger.

Message: You will have to drop the tank to install the front hangers on the rear leafs, if you don't it will be a pain in the ass. First you have to grind off the stock rivets and sparks flying that close to the tank, then if you pull that off you have to tighten the new nuts on the backside where the tank is, approx. 1 inch to stick your hand and wrench in there to tighten it up. If your going to try it at least put a wet towel over the tank while doing it. All shops bend you over no matter what work they perform.

Message: not all shops.... i try to stick with the shadyest looking, dirtiest mechanic shop i can find that for some reason, always has a lot of cars on his waiting list. backwoods bob is usually fair and knows what he's doing... not some kid at a slightly bigger store or chain, thats trying to save up for a new BMX
