Subject: Spring Compressors IP: Logged
Message: I am in the process of lowering my Dakota and would like to know where to find the proper spring compressor for the job. I tryed the fatory tool company(Miller SPX Tools) but they want over $150.00 for it. Please help.

Message: if you go to autozone, you can rent one from them for as long as you need it. you pay the 40 or 50 bucks up front to take it. then when u bring it back, you get all your money back. be sure you get the internal ones though, the externals are very hard to use on dakotas.

Usually you only need compressors when taking a spring off of a strut. You do not have struts.
I just finished installing 2" dropped coils on my Dak and you just put the truck on jackstands, jack up the a-arm, loosen the tie rod, loosen the shock, loosen the lower ball joint and lower the jack slowly and the spring will fall out.
Once you do it for the first time you will see what I mean and save yourself a lot of time and agravation.
