Message: u dont need to, just jack up the spring, cut off 2 coils off the stock spring, and slowly let it down. then when the 2 cuts are touching mig weld em. its fast and free.

Message: First off, I am saddend no one has invented something I can stab fat boyss in the face over the net with yet.
Second, just follow dak's advice. I have one suggestion however, you might want to put a chain around it and the control arm. Those loaded springs will knock your face off.

Message: open your ears. i said jack up the stock spring, cut off the middle 2 coils in it, then lower the spring slowly, when the 2 cut points touch each other, mig weld them together. i have done this on my 2 dakotas and its been over 3 yrs and they ride and handle nicely. and its free

that is what the compressor is for. if you go to autozone they do free rentals on them. it clamps onto the spring then it holds it together and you pull it out and slowly loosen it to uncompress the spring. they work great.

Message: Fat boyss ,
Thats the most retarded thing Ive ever heard.
First that spring still has a sh!tload of tension on it and if you cut it in the middle your asking for trouble...healthwise.
Secondly I imagine your trucks rode like a boat trailer once you cut/heated/welded the middle of the spring. Why didnt you just take the springs out and install a couple of bricks in there?

OHG, I've officially heard everything now.
The worst part is I actually believe he's done it.
Anyway, when I did mine, I disconnected the
sway bar end links, separated the spindle
from the upper control arm and carefully
lowered the lower arm with my floor jack.
The stock spring came out with a good pull.
The drop springs go in easy as they're shorter.
Later,
Lemmers

Message: I guess he couldnt figure out that an easier way to do that would be just hold a blow torch to the spring while its on the vehicle and heat it till the truck is at the right height..

My point exactly.
When I say Bricks... I mean you are butchering your ride and if you dont get hurt cutting the coil that way then at best its going to ride like a horse and buggy.
If you can understand that then ....
Ahh thew hell with it, I feel im getting more ignorant just discussing a topic like this.
Peace
