 Subject: Loosen control arm...top or bottom?

Just like the subject asks guys.
My 2/3 Kit is on the way and today I was under the truck doing some prior lowering inspecting and cutting down my bump stops and when I couldnt quite figure out if you take the a-arm loose from the bottom where the ball joint joins the spindle or the top ?
I have lowered a few cars the right way in my life , but have never lowered a truck so I figured the only stupid question was no question.
