I have a couple of questions here. Hoping somebody might be able to help me out.

I just got my dak dropped on the weekend. Went with the 2/3 DJM lower arms and blocks. Very pleased with it so far. Only downsides I’ve noticed is the ride a bit rougher and the steer stops will take some getting used to. The look of the truck definitely makes up for it. I'll post pics as soon as I'm done with the next set of mods.

Heres my situation:

The shop that did the drop didn't have alignment capabilities so I took it to the local Canadian tire when I got home. About half way through, I get a call at home about my control arms moving too much. The first question I have is how much give is in these arms? I'm talking about side-to-side movement here (not rotational). The truck was on the hoist supported by the frame. The mechanic had a pry bar and was able to move them 1/4 inch at the most. I would expect some movement to be normal with the poly bushings in all. This leads to my next question....

Shouldn't there be some load on the arms (and whole front end suspension for that matter) when doing an alignment? As I thought I saw canadian tire doing it. If the truck is on the hoist supported only by the frame there is nothing affecting the suspension. I would make sense to me that any adjustments you make for toe/camber would be messed as soon as you lay the truck down and put some weight on the suspension.

I would love to hear some input on this.

Thanks.

WITH A BIG ENOUGH PRY BAR YOU CAN MAKE ANYTHING MOVE, IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY WERE JUST TRYING TO MAKE A FEW BUCKS. YES THE VEHICLE HAS GOT TO BE ON THE GROUND IN THE NORMAL DRIVING STANCE TO BE ALIGNED (OR ON THE ALIGNMENT RACK FOR THAT MATTER).

Thanks for the reply.

I did a bit more investigating during the interim.

I called the local dodge dealership. I was told that the control arms should not move at all.

I call DJM directly. The tech there said a bit of movement is expected and what I had described was normal.

Interesting the various opinions on this subject. I'm going to write it off as inexperience with lowered components at my local shops.

I'm trying another alignment shop on monday. I wonder what they will tell me?
