Message: you can block the back but don't cut coils. with the 4 cyl you cant get coils they wont drop it as far as they say so your best bet is to do it right with the control arms. djm 2 inch arms will work. for the back the blocks will work but i would just get leaf springs for 2 inches.

Message: hey mike,
if you want to lower the truck cheaply and still maintain a decent ride, i would suggest blocks in the back and new coils in the front. i would definitely not suggest cutting the coils because you could cut them different lengths and mess up your suspension. lowdaksport said go with the leaf springs and control arms. i would definitely agree with him because it gives you a great ride, but it is a lot more pricey. i hope i helped. good luck

Message: https://www.hotchkis.net/secure_index.html . hotchkis has the best leaf springs check them out at that site and go to stylinconcepts or any sport truck store and get djm 2 inch c arms. the c arms will run about 250. and the hotchkis leafs are 265. if that is too much then i would go with the c arms for 250 and then blocks for 20 bucks. the only way to get a decent drop on the front of the 4 cyl will be c arms. you can email me if u need anything else at lowdaksport@sbcglobal.net or AOL IM lowdaksport. my truck is djm 2 incg c-arms djm coils djm hanger/shackle kit and blocks 2 in blocks with one machinerd down to level it out side to side. and my truck is totally level.

Message: i just lowered my 98 v6 3 in the back with blocks, and 4 in the front by CUTTING THE COILS. i was able to align the front with no more problems than any other method. the ride is a bit stiff, but not as much as youd think. if you measure 1 full turn on the coil, it is appx 4 inches drop...1/4 turn = 1 inch. the only problem i have had is the fact that i cant lower the rear any more than another inch without notching the frame. does anyone know of a c notch for the erar that doesnt cost an assload of cash? i have made my own before, but i dont have the time this time around. anything would be helpful

Message: sorry!!!! i lied on my earlier post...i said that 1/4 turn =1 inch...its 1/2 turn= 1 inch. i actually cut 2 full coils off the springs. to get back some suspension movement, i also cut the snubbers off halfway up the metal base, then cut and peeled the steel back, so that there was rubber showing at the tops. when i had it aligned, it was barely out of spec, and it was able to be brought back in easily. i have also discovered that s-10 springs can be used if you so choose...theyre cheaper, and easier to find than dakota springs.

Message: i lowered my dakota 2/3. i blocked the back and chopped the springs. it looks tight for a 2/3, and for a good while the ride was fine. i did this about march last year. just past the summer time it started squeekin when i ride over even slightly rough streets. i just got too anxious and didnt want to wait to save up for a nice kit. but late this summer i will get a 3/5 kit or wait til next yr tax return and bag it. but yes dont chop the springs!!!
