Subject: 18" wheels IP: Logged
Message: I am planning on getting a set of 18" rims, but don't quite know what width(s) I want.
I've seen trucks with wider tires in the back which looks really tough lookin'. I would like a 45 series tire. I was thinking of 18x9 in front with a 245/45 and 18x10 in rear with 295/45. Finding tires that match with both sizes is a chore! Any suggestions? Stay with one size all around? What backspacing and offsets? Does the tire rub if it is flush with the fender flare?
I have a `99 reg cab with fender flares ( not lowered yet, but will get the Hotchkis kit)
Thanks, John

Message: if you want to keep the same overall diamiter, do a 245/45 in the front and a 275/40 in the rear.

Message: everything on scotts truck is bad ass. if you do a 8" wide on the front do about a 5 1/4" BS, if you do a 9 1/2" on the back, go about 6 3/4" of BS.
this is all pretty much a guess, since i dont know how far the flares stick out.
call intro wheels, they did scotts wheels, and they might remember or know what he has

Message: well if the gen II's are the same as the gen III's get 6 1/4" of bs on the 8", and 7 3/4" of BS on the 9 1/2".
on the gen III's the fender lip where it is rolled under into the wheel well needs to be trimmed a littls, so you will probably have to do the same on your gen II.
if you are getting 17's they might tuck on a gen II ( the wheel wells look smaller from what i remember), but on a gen III, the tire comes even with the wheel well (when running a 245/40/17 on a 17x8" rim)
good luck
