Message: Just wanted to share with you my results from lowering my R/T. For the past month or so I've been reading all the posts on how to lower a Dodge Dakota. I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T Club Cab. I did learn a lot from all the posts and I found it a little confusing. Some of you said to lower the front only using control arms while others said use drop coils. Then many said drop coils ride to rough but by using arms you would lose the turning radius. On the rear I heard both pros and cons with both lowering blocks and shackles & hangers. Once you decided the way to go then there was which brand to use. Bell Tech, DJM, Ground Force, etc. It also seemed like one could spend anywhere from $100 - $1000 to lower your Dakota. This is the way I went and I couldn't be happier. First, I was on a budget but I really didn't want that to influence my decision. I wanted a clean looking drop, noticeable and driveable but not slammed. Being a big e-bay user I bought my kit there. I went with Spring Tech because they had a great e-bay record. I bought 3" drop coils and seems like I have a R/T it dropped it 2.25 inches. For the rear I made the mistake of first putting in a 4" block but then quickly changed it to a 3" block. The 4" lowered it too much for the front. The 3" worked perfect. Very level. Spring Tech sent me U-Bolts that wouldn't fit around my axle so I had to go out and buy my own. The Spring Tech Kit only ran $140 shipped. That included the 3" Drop Front Coils, Rear Lowering Blocks and the wrong U-Bolts. I had a buddy of mine who is a mechanic do the work for me. Took him about 3 hours to install it then another 30 minutes to change out my rear blocks from 4" to 3". The final result is awesome. Dropped 2.25" in the front and 3" in the rear. Truck is level and best of all the ride did not change a bit from stock! I can be driving on the freeway at 70MPH or on city streets at 25MPH and there is no ride change from stock. I can only tell when going over speed bumps. I lowered the Truck for under $200 and the ride quality stayed the same. I guess if you wanted a lower drop you would have to spend more money but if you only want a 2/3" drop this would be a great way to go.

Message: Hey, no problem. I was very pleased. The only down side was the u-bolts didn't fit. The R/T has a thicker axle. The u-bolts that come with the kit are for a non R/T. If you go in this knowing and expecting that, you'll be cool.

Message: I have a Dakota sport so I guess I won't have that problem.
Sorry for keep bothering you, but basically all I need for this 2/3 drop are those lowering springs..which are $45 dollars.......3" blocks, and U joints? I couldn't find the link to those.
And shocks, since I want new ones. And I'll be fine??
The sway bars are just optional correct?
Thanks for your help.

Message: No bother. That is correct. Go to e-bay and just type in Dakota Springs and they will come up. If you get the kit it will have everything you need. A very cheap way to lower your Truck with great results.
