Subject: Dropping a 93 Dakota IP: Logged
Message: Hey all,
I have a 93 Dakota and I want to drop it down a few inches. Like 2" in the front and 3" or 4" in the back. Now, I literally know nothing about lowering a truck. So what are some of the steps I should go through to do this, I dont wanna get it professionally done since I know it costs a lot of money, but if it comes to it i will. so what are some of the steps i should follow, starting with what and where to buy stuff.

Message: hey pal,
I have a 93 as well, i use belltech 2" drop springs and Belltech 3" blocks in the rear, it was less than $500 Can. Rid quality is much firmer but it is not bad at all. Have fun. I have modded a fair bit if you have any questions just ask, janesy01@hotmail.com

Message: 2" drop spindles in the front for $225 is a
much better way to go than 2" dop coils for
$100 or whatever.
Spindles will keep the front geometry stock.
My brother has a 95 RC that we dropped 2/2
using Western Chassis spindles in the front
and rear spring hangers in the back. It looks
really nice and rides/handles like stock.

Message: no sorry i havn't any pics at all.
Lemmers is right, spindles will keep all the geometry, however i had an allignment done and the guy told me that he hardly had to adjuste anything, funny he still charged me.
If you want a more agressive ride use springs, if you want proper allignment, use spindles. The only damage you can do with springs is maybe decrease the life of your ball joints. I paid 269 CAN. for the springs, spindles were 569 Can, when you only go down 2" you don't move anything out of adjustment enough to even think about it.

Message: I Have a 95 single cab V4 and i used 2" spings in the front and 3" leaf's in the rear and the front coils didn't fit in the lower control arms all the way so every time i hit a bump they shift so in other words i should haved used spindles and the leafs only did a 1" job for the rear. so i'm very mad that a $500 job did't do what i thought it would do. so don't no one go w/autobahn wholesale.

Message: I dropped the rear of my 95 x-cab by using the lifting blocks from the new Ram "off road". There made from cast iron and I'll guarantee they won't break or mushroom from the torque of the axle. Just use 2" longer hanger bolts to attach. These blocks are around 2-1/2 to 3" in depth. They came from the local dealer and costs about $95 for the pair, and I haven't had any troubles from pinion angles. I also have air shocks in the rear that allow me to lower down to the bump cushions that clear my 17" eagle alloys and tires by 1".
