Message: I am not sure exactly how to lower it 2" but blocks won't work if it has the same suspension as my '99. The leaf spring is on top of the axle so adding a block will lift the truck. The cheap and cheasy way to lower it would be to remove the center leaf spring out of your leaf pack. The drawback to that though is if you put any weight in the bed it will cause a poor ride.

Message: I don't use the truck to load stuff and probably never will. so how do I go about taking out the center leaf spring?

Message: is your truck a Dak or Ram? every dak I have seen, 2 or 4 wd has the springs going under the axle, there for a block would work... if not then a drop spring hanger will work just fine. taking apart the springs will make it ride like $hit, don't bother.

Message: I am not sure if there is a drop hanger that works for the 4x4. That would be the best way to do it, if it's available. As far as I know all the later model Dakota's have the spring on top of the axle in the 4x4's. That is how they get the height difference over the 2x4. Like I said though, removing the center spring is the cheasy way to do it, but if you want it low that may be what you need to do. With no weight in the bed it shouldn't change the ride.

Message: I made some calls today and nobody has seemed to have tried the hangers on a 4x4 dakota thay said it might work but they don't no.
I checked the leaf springs today on my truck and there are 4 of them and the bottom is double the size of the other three. I was wondering if I just lossin them and pull out the bottom one if that would work becasue it is not atached to the other three leaf springs.

Message: Why would you lower a 4x4? Doesn't that kinda elimanate(sp?) the piont of a 4x4? IF you wanted to lower a dak buy a 2x4 and save you some cash. I hate people that lower 4x4 and dualies. They don't make those trucks to be lowered.

Message: why dont you just raise the front 2"? It would be so much easier. Just crank up your torsion bars and you wont spend a dime. Well you will after you get your truck an alignment job. Which you will need to do as it will be out of whack.

Message: Hey 00Dak.... Where do you live? Some of us live in Michigan or Wisconsin or something of the same where snow is more often than not. A 2wd just isnt quite usable in half a inch of snow let alone 3-10 inches. Therefore a 4wd is the only option. Lowered trucks look bitchen, if you can have a lowered truck and 4wd than you've got the best of both worlds. So before you try to bash ask questions first. Later

Message: belltech or eibach make 2 inch lowering shacles. try those. or you could crank you torsion bars up 1.5inches to level it, thst would be free but would make your truck higher.
