when it comes to air bags, air ride is the sh..! they probably make the best kits out there. yeah, there are cheaper kits you can buy, but that's just what you get. i'm fixin to bag and body drop my 98 dak probably next month as soon as i can find time. i'm trying to get ready for the Texas Heat Wave in Austin.

The AirRide "CoolRide" kit is OK, but it definately takes some work to install. I just finished doing the front of my '02 dak. Mounting the shocks is a huge pain in the ass, and you have to drill a hole in the upper bag mount for the air line.

I thought I was going to need control arms but with bags it seriously gets sooo LOW.

if you ues your truck in the winter there is a very good chance that your air lines will frezzzz.woud not take a chance. one of my friends did that and slamed his truck and could not bring the truck back up he had to drive 20 miles scrapn frame.

Semi's have air brakes and ride all year. I wonder if you can use the "air brake anti-freeze" additive in an air ride system??????
Available at most auto parts stores

if you are going air Id go with a nitrogen tank, alot quicker then compressed air from a 5 gal. tank. Also, less electrical to worry about and cheaper than compressors and multiple tanks. I have some friends with bagged trucks that run nitrogen and theirs is quick. The only "semi" brake lines that i have ever seen go bad have been from rubbing, brittleness, high pressure, etc but never from freezing. Any DOT certified air line like semi trucks use should have a temperature and pressure range on them. If your worried about them freezing the go hard copper line, prolly cost just about as much.

Semi's in cold weather (like here) use alchol evaperators there quiet a bulky unit but you just add alchol to it and it traps all the mosture as the air runs throught it.

freezing.... he means water from the air. And they will freeze. Compressors freeze too if your not carefull. Buddy of mine compressors always freeze in the winter. He has them mounted in front of his exhaust so he just waits for the exhaust to warm them up. You could also mount the compressors somewhere else to keep them warm or even better switch over to nitrogen in the winter. Only bad part about nitrogen is you use the tank pretty quickly and refills aren't free. Me personally, I play with my switches WAY to much to switch to nitrogen.

For airline freezing, just put in a water seperator inline from your compressors to your tank. It can be as fancy as a paint gun air dryer to a canaster holding a toilet paper roll. You should run one anyways regardless of freezing. Also put a drain plug in your tank to drain once a month. Once winter hits, it should be fine.

Terry T..... Thats a good deal if he's doing all the purchasing and work. I'd jump all over that!

Curt... you can run it in the winter. Just remember that your truck is... different... after bagging and drive acordingly in the snow. No more 4x4 action!!! Plus side to it, your truck is a giant sled when you lay out in parking lots @ 30 mph

so the only thing i would have to worry about freezing up on me is the compressors....the lines should be ok????.... i was just worried about the air frezzing when it expands...kind like lettin the air out of a CO2 tank...the CO2 frezzes...something like that i am afriad of

no... everything thats has moister in your system will freeze. valves, compressors, tanks, lines. As long as you have a good water seperatorlocated in ideal areas, your fine

unfreeze.
my buddy has tomas compressors...... frooze them like everyday for a month. I'm sure it cant be good but they still run like nothin happened.

Electic valves have a rubber seal inbetween the air chambers(if you will) might rip one, but they are pretty thick so probably not. Had one of mine stuck open due to ice chunks. Blow drier fixed that.

thats all I can think of that might cause your shiznit to seriously break and cost money

What up everyone, first let me start by saying I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota that I have bagged and it is layed out hard. Its not hard at all to bag these things just gotta know how to do it right! atr the same time for anyone else interested I sell air ride parts (for all trucks though) and I sell the BEST stuff at the BEST prices, and I get it all, slam bags, Parker valves, KP links, KP brackets, notches, etc! Now as for wheels, you basically WILL NOT find a wheel that will tuck in the back unless you have the rear end narrowed! I had to do in order to tuck my 20s! Its a must.
But if anyone needs help, wants to buy parts, or wants to see what a kota looks like layed the hell out. Email me
flatlinekustoms@attbi.com
later
