4x4's are not useless when lowered, they just don't have as much ground clearance to off road but they still work perfectly fine onroad. Describe what you mean Jay. 4x4's are harder to lower cause they have an extra drivetrain and more components. You probably have torsion bars up front and leafs over the axle in the rear but I can't be for certain so you should probably check to be sure. If this is the case, you can crank down the torsion bars a bit and remove a few leafs in the rear to drop you a bit. Keep in mind this will reduce your load carrying ability a bit. Also this would lower you a max 2 inches all the way around. You don't want to remove so many leafs and crank down the bars so much that chassis and suspension geometry is all outt whack. If you are serious about a slam like 4/6 it can probably be done but you are talking serious cash/ probably twice the normal 2wd lowering kits and that is if they even make one for a dodge. If this was my truck, I would probably bag it so I could maintain offroad clearance to still have fun mudding while lowering in on the street. Even in bagging it I don't think it could ever sit as low as a 2wd cause of the hugh crossmembers and transfer case and such. Also you might want to check on the most reliable parts to bag it since offroading will pobably present more stress and dangers than normal street driving. I hope this helps.

ok i am against lowering a 4x4 but i do know a few things. first 4x4 (at least gen III) have a 2 in body lift from the factory. i don't know if this is to make room for the transfercase or if it is just intended to make room for the one inch taller tires that come on a 4x4. if the body lift is just for the tires then you could remove it easily enuf. and it wouldn't mess with the suspention angles and stuff. second the axle is over the leaf springs in the back so the usual blocks should work. and with tortion bars you can just crank them down, but you have to be ready to bottom out a lot.
hoped this helped

"ok i am against lowering a 4x4 but i do know a few things"....whatever you say buddy...

4x4s do not have a 2in body lift from the factory....

1)there leafsprings are on top of the rear axle and the 2x4s are underneath...

2)it sits higher up front because of the design of the suspension. If you put a 3in lift on a 2wd, it will be as tall as a stock 4x4...ie can fit 31x10.5in tires....

3)you would need to lower your truck atleast 3 in to be the height of a 2wd...

i am against lowering a 4x4, but do what you want...if i was you, i would take the money that you would spend on a lift kit and just by some street tires/bigger rims to fill up the wheel wells....but it is your truck....
