Subject: Disconnecting Battery Cable IP: Logged
Message: Everytime the dealer does something with my PCM or TCM like updates, flashes, etc... my persistant(sp?) pinging problem seems to go away for about a week or two. The only thing I can think of is that the PCM or TCM is part of the problem.
Last time I was talking with a tech I mentioned that I might try and remove the battery cable to reset the computer(s) and see if that helped. The tech said NOT to do that. What is wrong with doing this? I know when you install certin accessories or work near the airbag sensors you are supposed to disconnect the battery. It's not like I'm getting any error codes or a MIL light where they would want to store the codes.
I don't see anything wrong with disconnecting the battery cable but maybe someone has more insight on this issue.
Any help is appreicated!!
