I have a 1989 dakota all stock. It has approx. 200,000 miles with a rebuilt engine. I put some injector cleaner before taking a long trip. On the way back the truck would surge terribly when accelerating hard. If you ease on the gas it does o.k. The truck has a brand new fuel pump. When I got back the first thing we did was drop the tank and give it a good cleaning. it did not help. The problem seems to be intermitant it only does this about 1/2 the time when giving it hard gas. I don't know if it has anything to do with the injector cleaner or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I was told by a DC tech that fuel injector cleaner can stir up scales and other derbis that was stuck to the sides of the fuel tank and end up causing more problems. I don't know how true this is but it sounds logical. Maybe your fuel filter could be to blame?
