 Subject: sunroof in a QC

Does anyone have any experience with, or knowledge about, putting a sunroof in a QuadCab? The ridges in the roof would seem to present a challenge to fiting a roof. The QC is crying out for a sunroof, in my opinion. I'm hoping that someone has found a solution to fitting one into the ridged roof.

I don't have one in my Quad, but,
where I had my spray in liner done, they also do Moon roofs and I was told they would cut out the support overhead and reinforce the sides, and it's DOT approved. I still don't have one yet though. I've seen that website, that IS a nice job!

I have one in my 2001 QC. Its a power moonroof.
I can't remember the who makes it, i can check into it if anyone is interested. Works real nice. They install a new head liner in the cab thats a little lower to allow the glass to slide back. This was done by the dealer when truck was purchased.

I think the sunroof looks good and had the same idea for my truck although i was thinking of putting it over the backseat. Any thoughts on this? I was also hoping to get a power option on it.

Mine is a power moonroof. I believe that you can put cetain models in the back, the glass wood have to slide up and out instead of in the roof. I saw a picture of a ford quad and it had 2 moonroofs, one in front and one in back.

a moon roof slides up, or retracts back, leaving the space wide open. can be clear or i have seen some painted to match the body
a sun roof is clear/tinted, and just pops up a few inches.

steve can you post a picture of your sunroof inside and out so we can see how it looks. Sound very nice. Looking to do mine but I wouldlike to see how big the opening is.

Where is the dealership that did the work? Finding a sunroof\moonroof isn't the hardpart, it is finding someone who knows how to install one without destroying the structural integrity of the truck. Do you have any photos showing how they handled the transition at the ridges at the roof, and of the lowered head liner? Any info is appreciated.

The truck had the moonroof added in it when i purchased the truck so i don't have any of those details. The rubber gasket infront and in back of the roof form to the ridges in the roof. The interior head liner is lowered about 1.5'' the sunglass holder was removed from the overhead console. It looks like a factory sunroof.
