Subject: Performance PCM Questions IP: Logged
Message: In an effort to try to get rid of my pinging problem (dealer can't even fix, DC says it is a "charastic" which is total BS!) I've noticed that whenever the dealer updates my PCM or TCM the pinging seems to go away for a week or two. I really think that the PCM is the problem. I think that it is "learning" wrong. In other words, trying to compensate for something it shouldn't. This is the only way I can explain why the problem comes back after 1-2 weeks. Anyway, I wanted to either get a new PCM or a Performance PCM to see if I replace the current PCM if the pinging will go away. My questions are... What are the pros / cons of a new PCM and how much does one cost? I don't really have too much knowledge of PCMs so any help is appreicated!!
Thanks

Message: I believe most performance flashes advance your timing which would not help your pinging problem.
You can do a search on this board for B&G flash, Mike Leach, Kenne Bell. All these places will flash your current pcm. I think the cost is in the neighborhood of $500.
2000 4.7 CC auto, clear corners, Magnaflow catback, Kenne Bell s/c.
