Subject: backfire after IAT relocation?

i recently installed an MSD 6AL system (left plugs at original gapping) and relocated the IAT sensor to the intake tube, and today i experienced backfiring, what caused this????

you mean the timing is advanced too much as a result of moving the IAT sensor? im thinking i should make my spark plug gap larger, i just dont know the benefits of it, a bigger arc i would assume, which can only be good.

Dah Dan, I bet yer wundrin why yo dont get any more responses to yer question?????? But maybe it would work to open up yer plug gap... Ya,it would take the spark longer to get across the gap and that would retard yer spark.......Ya thats it..now I get it...Uh Huh Uh Huh

With a relocated IAT, it is gonna sense that the temperature is colder out and richen up the fuel mixture. Thus you will sometimes get a backfire from it. Let the computer relearn for a while and hopefully it will take care of it.
