 Subject: Tranny question

I have a 2002 3.9 auto 4x4 with only 3000kms so far.
My question concerns the tranny's 2-3 shift. If I am on the gas even a little and going up a small grade, the 1-2 goes fine but the 2-3 seems to hang on way long. I have to let up on the gas to get it to shift. If the grade is level and I am on the gas a bit, it shifts fine. It has been like that since day 1.
Is that normal for this transmission or is it that transmission throttle valve adjustment I have read about? I would like to have a idea before I take in for service. Thanks.
