i have a 1989 dakota with the stock 3.9. I wanted to swap this for a 318. If anyone could give me some information on how to do this it would be appreciated. Please be as specific as possible with the details. as far as the mounts, computer, linkages and so forth. thank you very much for your help

I think if you have to change everything your best bet is to find a junk yard truck with the complete v8 and swap everything over. I'm just starting to look into this for my 97 and most of the components are not the same, even so far as to include the radiator not being as large a capacity as the v8 trucks. It's a uphill battle to go from v6 to v8

Don't do that, it's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth!

I did the same thing to my 91 Sport, $4000 later it still doesn't run right. It's not worth it!

I had to change everything from front suspension to tourque convertor, modify mounts ( can't find them anymore for 318 ), can't find 318 computer for anything older than 94 (using V6 computer sets revlimiter at 4800 instead of 6000, causes timing problems, and makes the truck get roughly 10mpg, it also messes up shifting patterns and causes the rev limiter to hit at 60 mph when not in OD)

IF I HEAR YOU SAY ONE MORE THING ABOUT CHANGING FROM A V6 TO V8 IN AN OLD DAKOTA I WILL PERSONALLY COME FIND YOU AND KICK YOUR ASS!

Here's the good things about it.
