That would not be a good enough answer for me. When you pay 20K+ for a truck, it damn well better fire up and move whether cold or hot.

I have a 02 Dak quad cab 4x4 4.7 automatic and I have 16 k on the odometer, I have never had any probs, I use a 180 T stat, Jet stage II module, but even befor the Jet, no probs. mine starts up and I drive off. Has the dealer flashed your PCM and looked in there for the problem? how about the Idle speed of the truck? Try another dealer also..

If it happens when shifting, maybe a fault in the neutral safety switch? You haven't mentioned if it's a manual or auto tranny, but I remember there is supposed to be a switch that prevents you from starting the car in Drive or Reverse, maybe this is shorting out the electronics when shifting?

My 91 does that in the cold, just have to start it a few minutes before I'm ready to leave. Sometimes it even has to go into a closed loop before it runs good.

Closed Loop=running on ROM, being computer maintained, usually happens when thermostat opens.
