That would not be a good enough answer for me. When you pay 20K+ for a truck, it damn well better fire up and move whether cold or hot.

Message: I have a 02 Dak quad cab 4x4 4.7 automatic and I have 16 k on the odometer, I have never had any probs, I use a 180 T stat, Jet stage II module, but even befor the Jet, no probs. mine starts up and I drive off. Has the dealer flashed your PCM and looked in there for the problem? how about the Idle speed of the truck? Try another dealer also..

Message: If it happens when shifting, maybe a fault in the neutral safety switch? You haven't mentioned if it's a manual or auto tranny, but I remember there is supposed to be a switch that prevents you from starting the car in Drive or Reverse, maybe this is shorting out the electronics when shifting?

Message: My 91 does that in the cold, just have to start it a few minutes before I'm ready to leave. Sometimes it even has to go into a closed loop before it runs good.
Closed Loop=running on ROM, being computer maintained, usually happens when thermostat opens.
