When I found this board about a year ago I thought it was pretty good. I'd just bought a new truck and got some great info from here. I was going to become a member after a couple months but wasn't sure what was going on because of some of the immature kids that hang out here.
I was off the site for quite a while and recently came back and I can't believe what has happened to this board. Reading the posts here is like something from public school. I posted Christmas Eve to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and only got three sensible replies. All the rest were something you'd expect from nine year olds sneaking in to use Dad's conputer while he's at work.
Mark has done a lot of work to make this site interesting but the kids are totally ruining it. I notice a lot of the old regulars have left and it's easy to see why.
When I see the level of maturity of some of you posters, it makes me wonder how you ever got drivers licenses, let alone being able to buy a truck. Seems like you should still be riding around a tricycles.
Right now the world is a scary place, and it looks like we could be going to war. Most of the world will depend on you Americans to make it safe and I can just imagine what some of you kids will think when you have to fight for your country alongside real men in the Army or Marines. You won't have Dad's computer to hide behind.
Hopefully you will grow up soon and stop acting like children. Your given a drivers license because your supposed to be mature, but I just hope I'm never on the hiway at the same time as some of you.
It doesn't matter, but I'm a 56 year old Canadian.
For the mature members of this board Happy New Year.
For the kids, grow up.

We adults are still here Lew, and i couldn't agree with you more. Unfortuneately parents seem to lack parenting skills nowadays, and it certainly shows here and most web forum sites.
Kinda scary thinking about what these kids will be like when they're in charge of the world in another decade or so. Hope I won't be around then!

If I might add one more thing. I'm not a paid up member, so my opinion won't carry any weight. I belong to another site, nothing to do with trucks. We were having the exact same problems over there. The board was free to all and we had the same type of children trying to ruin it. The format was changed and now only registed users are allowed to post. The trouble makers were totally removed and the site is now a pleasure to visit. If this site becomes members only I would bet the same will happen. In that case I will be the first to sign up.

I've been on this site for about 3yrs and in the last 8months, this site is taking a steady stream right down the crapper and fast.
I now spend alot of my time at dodgetruck.org where there's a big difference in the maturity level. Plus the added bonus Lew, there's a Canadian section for us. Hope to see you there.

I don't care if your Canadian, Asian or whatever, as long as your posting mature, useful information, your cool with me. but until Mark does something about this site, like make it a e-mail deal like DTO and then for the paying members, let us, and only us post pics, links, and other html. But until that happens I say don't waste your money, Go to DTO, or one of the other sites that .alex has listed above. I know, I'm a member and shouldn't speak against this site, but hell, I have posted more at DTO in 15 minutes than I have here in the last 2 months. This sites information is old, and it seems the only new posts are questions that have already been asked. I don't regret paying the $30, I have saved more than that from the information that I have already gathered, but there's plenty of this info on DTO., This site has just gone to sh!t, So for those of you that are fairly new to this site.... LEAVE and set up an account at DTO

I am not quite sure if you are referring to me when you say little punks...I certainly hope not. I agree that some of the things posted are completely and utterly useless, but I only post when I believe I can possibly offer some useful advice or when I need some good advice. As you can guess I don't know half as much about these trucks as many of you older guys do and I may never. I just hope there will always be guys like y'all to help us younguns out when sometimes we get stuck on a mod or repair on these trucks.

I agree 100% with your post Lew, that's why I'm not on this site very much. I spend a lot of time at a registered site, where none of this crap goes on. I don't like posting the name of it here, because frankly, I don't want a lot of the people on here to find it.

I understand your frustration Lew, but as you stated, you don't visit this site anymore. Obviously due to your pension for more mature dialoge.
With regards to your comments on war...you mentioned we. As I recall, I did not see you with me in 1990-1991 as I froze in the night and baked in the day under the Iragi sun. Nor as my fellow soldiers and I pursued the Republican Guards (First Armoured Division).
Not to be disrespectful, but I get a little crazy when I hear a lecture on how to act. If the words aren't lies, prejudice or don't order someone to kill, it's called free speech. That's what this country was founded on, but you should know that being 56.
Personally, I enjoy some of the "rib'ing" that occurs on this site. (ie...i'd agree with you but you're canadian) It's all in good humor and clearly most people (that still read/post) do as well.
Maybe you should start your own site and then you could contol the content. Hmmm...communism, fundamentalism. Just a thought.
Oh by the way, this has nothing to do with the fact that your Canadian. I met a few of your soldiers in Germany and they were good peeps.

I agree with both of your posts Uncle Sam and Lew. Both of you make very good points, even though from very different point of views. Sometimes people get misunderstood and sometimes people take things the wrong way. Then sometimes there are those who wear their feelings on their shirt sleeves. I am not neccessarily talking about either one of you but sometimes things get misunderstood and people may not understand the poster's point of view or meaning in one of their posts. I think we just need to remember this and keep each other in mind when we post subjects.

The reason you didn't see me in Iraq is because I wasn't there, probably because I served my time nearly 30 years before you, but what has that got to do with anything ?
My reference to the impending war was to emphasize how fast some people had better start maturing if they want to measure up to real men. If you had read my post you would have seen that.
There is nothing wrong with free speech, but there is something wrong with a person who wants to come on a site like this, and try to ruin it with there stupid childish behavior.
People come on here to share info or help each other or even try to foster new friendships and they have to constantly dodge a barrage of stupidity from people who have absolutely nothing to offer.
Go back and look at my post Christmas Eve and tell me what you think. It has nothing to do with lies, predjudice or orders to kill ?!?!?
Your right, most people don't mind good natured kidding, but this stuff is way over that line.
Read the responses to my post and I think you'll find most posters are on my side.

You mentioned war that's what it has to do with. I was a snotty nosed 19yr old and being that you were in early twenties...so were you. If you have combat time Lew then you should know that most of the combantants are childish, goofy kids. Also, only people who have combat experience should refer to a preferred "maturity" level for war. If you have that experience, then you qualify. Only reason I mention is because you based a point on it.
What I read in your post is that I am not a real man (didn't think I would have to spell it out for ya), due to the fact that I find this site ok as is. Understand? You rip on everyone who doesn't just want to read service manual jargon. Most of the posts hear are entertaining. If you don't like some of the posts, skip them. I constantly do and I'm no worse for wear. I'm not saying your wrong Lew. I happen to completely agree with you, I just disagree with you delivery.

I totally agree with Uncle Sam's last post. Just because a person is young and perhaps hasn't been exposed fully to the real world doesn't mean they are any more or any less a man. I know that some people, no matter their age, act more responisble and mature than others. All one has to do if he/she doesn't want to read a post that doesn't interest them is skip it, no one is forcing you read every little post made by every person on this message board. Most posts made by not only the younger posters but older ones as well contain at least a small amount of immaturity, thats what makes life interesting - its called FUN. Not everyone choses to speak in the most serious way possible. I understand your point of view completely but I agree with Uncle Sam in that your delivery was perhaps a little off.

I disagree with some of your statements. I think it should be directed more towards imature people then to say kids. I'm only 19 and to many people includeing myself I would be considered a kid.
I don't beleive I've ever posted anything offensive or imature on this board that I know of. And I've tried to use some of the knowledge I've learned in my short time period with cars to help others out.
I just don't agree with bashing an entire age group, even if the majority in it is imature in there posting.

I agree with you 100% about this site. I've thought about joining this site. But I see alot of immaurity on here. But I have gotten some advice from here. I'm 40 years old & just lost my best friend & his daughter on the 13th of Dec. So all the people that are on this site need to think about what they are saying before they post it. Because we never know when it may be our time to leave this world. So to Lew & everone on here have a Safe & Happy New Year!!

Brandon, conig, and others that are fortunate to have a lot of life ahead of you, I believe I speak for the older bunch when I say that we do a poor job of differentiating between age and maturity. I'm 53 and enjoy being in the company of younger people. You/they are so full of life. My age group are into things that I don't care much for. You are most definitely NOT the people that Lew and others were talking about. You are the kind of people that will take up where leave off. Hang in there through our flaws and know that you are appreciated.

Lew , I must have missed your other post. So you too have a Happy New Year , and I hope your christmas was filled with peace and joy!!
Hats off to the people that didn't agree with you , for they did so in a mature way , and you replied in kind. So far , this has been a good bunch of postings.
On another note , I myselfe have never been in the Military. I have a deep and profound respect for those who have. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be in combat , but I have read as much as I can about WW1 WW2 Koriea , Nam , and what is out about Desart Storm. I am 32 , and I will FOREVER be ashamed I was not part of the Gulf War. At the time I was just married and had a child. Not that other men didn't , just never gave joining much thought after getting married. That is something I will have to live with the rest of my life. (I didn't mean that to sound like I don't like being married cause I do.)
If you want a good book to read , Flags Of Our Fathers is the best book I have EVER read. I am not afaraid to admit I cried when I red what thosw boys went through on Iwo Jima.
