Does anyone know if the factory rear slider window tinting is conductive? I'd like to install a 2M-70cm two piece surface mount antenna on either side of the glass.

Hurl,

I had a glass mount antenna on my old vehicle for a scanner. The info that came with the antenna metioned that the user should avoid mounting the antenna on tinted windows as the tinting material inhibits the signal.

I have a scanner antenna mounted on my rear slider dark factory tinted window. It SEEMS to work fine. All I'm doing is listening in on local weather and police communications though. It gives a little better reception than the "rubber duck" antenna that came with the scanner.

Hope this helps.

Chrysler's tinted glass should not pose any problems with your antenna install. AFAIK, the only glass tinting that is conductive is some of the very early glass and the new glittery looking tinted glass.

I've installed a handful of on-glass antennas on our Dodges over the past ten years with no problems and very nice SWR.

P.S. I've had very good luck with the Larsen antennas (including the 2/70 setup). Not a good experience with the first generation of Antenna Spec. on-glass mounts, maybe the newer ones are better.
