Subject: O2 Problems?? IP: Logged
Message: Hoping for help! My mechanic has put 3 Bosch aftermarket O2 sensors on my V8 magnum '96 Dakota in about the last 8 weeks. Each time a new one is installed, it runs okay for a day or so, then the check engine light comes back on and it begins to run rough again. My gas mileage has gotten considerably worse. And there's a strong exhaust smell that I didn't have before. Also, I occasionally smell what seems to be a raw gasoline smell. I think my mechanic has given up on me. Any suggestions out there?
Thanks alot for your help!

Message: check the wiring harnes going TO the o2 sensor... got burned on a grand cherokee that way. the power feed harnes got cut where it ran acrost the top of the transfer case and cut the wires. replaced a couple of sensors before I found the harness cut. may not be your problem but it never hurts to check. could even happen on a 2wd truck.any wiring problems can cause all kinds of gremlins on todays cars!!!!! hope this helps!
