Don't get it replaced with a factory unit if you do replace it.I did that under warranty and the second one only lasted a little over a year before it rattled again.Got an aftermarket replacement at the local muffler shop and it is alot better so far.It was a high flow unit and even made the truck a little louder! Sounds wicked though!

Cat are emmission contol devices which are covered over the 3yr 36000 mile warrenty. I had mine replaced on my 96 dak a couple of years ago - It had 70,xxx some miles on it. Didn't cost me a thing. See your dealer, you might still be under warrenty.

The cat on my previous '97 started rattling and eventually plugged up. I had it replace with a high-flow cat from Jegs. It cost me about $120 which is considerably cheaper then what I could have got a stock one for. I believe it was made by Dynomax. Two more things. First it will make your exhaust noticably louder, which is something I liked. Second, you will also have a noticable power increase.
