I was reading Bernd's page about running the test on your instrument cluster and it reminded me of that webpage that tells you all the hidden stuff in computer software. eeggs.com I think? anyway, what other hidden things are there in cars/trucks that most people don't know about?

Judging from some of the questions asked on this board, they'd be things like engines and hood latches.

A joke around the office was posted something like this:

ATTENTION FORD ENGINEERS:
Due to increased interest, Ford Motor Company will be releasing "Engineer" Packages for all vehicles manufactured during the 03MY. The Engineer Package will bring added value and performance through reduction of unused features, and the enhancement of certain systems. New features include:
1. Elimination of the Turn signal switch and turn signal systems. (Often unused in our area)
2. Elimination of Side and rear view Mirrors.
3. Elimination of cruise control. (Tests have shown that while it may be used occasionally, Detroit traffic often prevents its use.)
4. Enhancement of the Throttle position sensor, through elimination of all Part throttle positions. (Test show that Detroiters are All-or-none.)
5. Enhancement of the braking system: Includes new all-time PanicStop feature. Even the slightest pedal pressure causes full application of the brakes.
6. Enhanced front and rear bumpers, with Titanium reinforced pushers. For those really heavy traffic days.
7. Tail-gator traffic control system: Uses the radar-like parking aid system on the front bumper to allow you to get as close as possible to the person in front of you, without actual contact.

Order your Ford vehicle today with the Engineer Package. Only $1500 above A-plan price! See a dealer for details.

The BMW M3 has an easter egg that automatically does a 3000rpm clutch dump, and away you go. Or something to that effect. It has something to do with the manumatic type tranny.

I like the auto lock after 15mph, it's not like it locks you in. Why do many of you change it?

I still have my autolocks engaged. The one feature I would like to have would be a power sliding rear window. I know I could get one aftermarket, but thats no fun.

I have one!

Oh, oh, oh, pick me!

Yeah. Not long ago I hopped into my truck and went to open the center console... And the button shot out! Turns out it's a DCX Easter Egg for bonus fun trying to get it to stay back in. (just bend the prongs back out; it'll stay. Eventually)

Actually only the european spec'ed BMWs have the acceleration assist, and it's 4000RPM, and after 15 times the warrentee is void. The US doesn't allow the voiding, so we don't get the feature. As for the autolocks, I got manual door locks and windows. With a 2 door vehicle I don't need the power stuff, and I don't need to turn the key to roll down the windows if I'm parked and waiting for someone.

It must've condfused the factory, all the HD options, A/C and cassette (the stereo was planned to be swapped when I sold my previous car) were the only plushiness options, and a pretty color. :)

I disabled the auto lock because in the quad only the front doors unlock when you pull the handle.
also when I get out of the drivers door I usually am grabbing something out of the back and rarely remember to unock the doors as I get out.

I thought inside the door has a childproof rear door mechanism, which can be disabled with a switch on my 01 Quad, with power locks.

1. Get in close doors and put on the seat belt.
2. Turn key to on (not start)
3. Press and hold the Lock button on the fob for at least 4 seconds, then at the same time press the panic button.
4. If you hear one chime (you did it correct)release both buttons. And that should do it.
Good Luck

no, only the front doors unlock when you pull the handles.
and the child lock makes it like a police car, only open from the outside.
rear door passenger must unlock door manually unless I use the power to unlock then pull door handle to get out. (if child lock is on then they must unlock door then I can let them out from outside.)
