Subject: Pinging after new Catalytic Converter???
IP: Logged

Message:
I had my converter replaced under warranty by the dealer on Friday. Right away I noticed some pinging under light acceleration; it goes away if I accelerate hard or pass someone (in passing gear).

I have had 3923 plugs, 180 thermostat, re-routed plug wires, and air intake for awhile now. I didn't notice ANY pinging before the converter replacement.

Could a O2 sensor problem cause pinging? I think they had to switch my O2 sensors into the new converter & pipe.

Thanks for any input on this issue!
John

If it runs better try running high octane fuel. If they detune the timing to rid of the pinging it will run like a dog.
