Subject: Spider Gears IP: Logged
Message: I have a rc auto V-6 few mods. I have been thinking of welding the spider gears up. Im a decent welder and I have a few diffs. to practice on. I seen it alot in the off road world with trucks that have a lot more power than me. Also thought of paying a licensed welder to deal with the heardend steel. Any thoughts?

Message: DON'T DO IT! If you are going to drive the truck on the road at all, this could break your diff. When you turn a corner, the wheels have to turn at different speeds, if they cannot do this, they will either break the diff, or make the wheels hop. I have rebuilt a diff before, so I do know what I am talking about.

Message: Believe me, you'll hate yourself in the morning. First of all, it's not that simple. The gears are made of heat treated, high alloy steel. There is a special procedure and special welding rods for welding such material. If done incorrectly, the weld will be cracked before it's even cooled. That's only the beginning of your troubles. It will be an absolute nightmare to drive in anything other than a straight line. DON'T DO IT!!
