Subject: Where is the power outlet fuse for 01?
IP: Logged

Message:
I swear there is no burnt fuse in the fusebox on my 01 Dakota V8 4.7 but the aux. power outlet stopped working a few days back when I plugged in an inverter. Anyone know where this is fused?

Had similar problem with my '97...eventually found the fuse in the main panel in the engine compartment...had to look hard and read the fuse descriptions a few times because it wasn't called "Aux Power Outlet" fuse.

I had the same thing happen the very first time I plugged in my power inverter. Ended up unplugging every freakin fuse in the box. A few weeks ago I plugged in my cell phone charger into it and it works to charge, but the light on the cord doesn't go on. Yet if I plug the cord into my dash lighter it lights up.

I'll check the box under the lid. Dean, which one is it?

Your power outlet fuse is on the BACKSIDE of the fuseblock! Grab a flashlight and put yer head down in the footwell near the brake pedal and look up, under the dashboard. You will see 2 fuses on the backside of the fuseblock, where Dodge figured you would never look. The 20 amp fuse is for the power outlet. I don't know what the other one does. Somebody when I'm bored maybe I'll pull it and find out.

I'm glad someone else had the guts to ask that question. Mine stopped working about 4 mos ago, and I felt too stoopid to admit I couldn't figure out where the fuse was.

OK. Last night I looked everywhere suggested and still couldn't find it. I have a '99 w/318. So maybe it's different than a 2000 or newer, because there was nothing on the back of my main fuse panel.

Found it on the 2002's! At least on the QC, would assume it's in the same place for RC and CC's.

It's under the hood in the fuse box located behind the battery. Standing at the front drivers fender facing the truck it is located near the fender on the left side. I had a series of 3 20 amp fuses near the fender side of the box, and it's the one closest to the center of the truck. You should be able to see if it's blown without taking it out - provided you have enough light. Looking on the inside of the fuse cover it was labled Aux Power.

Put in a new fuse, tried it and my cell phone power cord light worked.

TDak, like you I couldn't find any fuses behind the fuse box.

Uh, OK, if anyone has found the fuses on the back of their fuseblock, now would be a good time to chime in so I don't look like an idiot...

I have a 2000. I can't vouch for other years, but there is definitely no fuse for the aux. power under my hood.

On the 01 & 02 the fuse for the dash mounted outlet is on the fuse panel on side of the dash, for the power outlet in the console it is under the hood in the pdc

Hey everyone, Thanks!
I've been searching for the fuse on my 2000 Dakota Quad and was stumped.
Found it on the backside of the fuse panel, hidden by a wiring harness. It is tucked in between 2 10amp fuses. I guess I'll figure out what they are for when something else stops working

200 Dakota.. COmpany vehicle.. I've had this for just over a year and am the third with this. The fuse went witht the first driver and we could never find it. But thanks to this forum, there it was, behind the fuse panel, hidden if not looking for it by a wiring harness and tons of wrapped up coils.

Thank you! I have also been searching for the fuse to the power outlet in my 2000 Dakota QC. Would never have thought to look behind the fuse box. Fixed just in time for summer travel. Thanks again.

I had a broken outlet for about 4 years, and had been through every fuse I could find. I finally found this info here, and looked. There it was, on the BACK of the fuse block, and not listed on the diagram on the little door. The user's manual does not mention the three hidden on the back either! I wonder what the other two do... I may have to unplug them and find out.

Let me confirm that for the 2003 Dodge Dakota it is under the hood behind the battery. Like others have stated it is a 20 amp fuse and the 3rd in a line.
Why are there so many fuses in this truck? There is a fuse box on the driver's dash and one under the hood.

Ok, just to put a word in on the fuse location on the '97
Dakota, I have the V8 version and the Aux Power outlet fuse is
located in the fuse block in the engine compartment in position
13. It is a 30 amp fuse and not a standard blade fuse. The
only reference to the fuse that describes it is in the owners
manual where it is called " power out ". The lid of the fuse box
calls it a Blower fuse. The fact it is 30 amp when the Aux
Power plug in the truck says it is 20 amp is what threw me off
and made it so hard to figure out. It appears this location only
refers to the 5.2 liter V8 ( Canadian version). Hope this helps
those who have this truck series and are having issues with
this.

So THANKS to this thread... all is good again.
