My bro in law has the century and really likes it. Personally I have no experience with either, On the century the color match was perfect. Just my .02

Go with the A.R.E. cover, in my honest opinion. I have one on my 2000 Dakota and love it. It seals tight, keeping weather out. The locking mechanism seems solid enough, though it is not as solid as some other brands I have seen. As for looks, it's hard to beat...the lines of the hood are replicated in the cover and it looks sweet. You should look at adding the optional wing on the back, if it's in your budget. (I think they look cool.) They make a quality fiberglass lid. My company is an A.R.E. dealer and we have very few problems with their products.

GOOD LUCK!
Brian

On my 99 I had the Mopar hard cover - really liked the locking (except the key) and the fit as it was water tight.

On my 01 QC I have the ARE (since I didn't want the gull wing) and like it's mechanisms. It is faily water tight with normal rain or washing however I do suck some mist up in at highway speeds. It is not a tight seal like the Mopar one was. They have done some updates to the seal since I got mine but my dad just got one and it is still not a tight seal. Looks are very good though and the quality seems to be good.

I think about the same as the others, can't really remember esp. since I got a discount. If you have a QC the gull wing is more like 900 something.

Leer 700. Great looks, aerodynamic shaping like the hood lines, but reversed. Single pushbutton locking mechanism with automotive door style latches at the corners and absolutely watertight. I've had one on my '00 QC for about 6 months and am very pleased. Price installed was $760, including color matching. Best bang for my buck I could find, as I plan on keeping my rig for 10-15 years!

How does the Leer fit. I did consider it before getting the ARE but only saw one on a GMC and it looked like it didn't fit right near the cab.

JJJ,
I have no problem with the fit-up. There is a little spacing at the back of the cab, but it is needed to provice clearance when the lid is opened, as the lid sits above the bed,...D

There are about 1000 postings if you search by bed cover on this site. There doesn't seem to be any one solution, but I found a different/better? one.
One of the other forums recommended to check out peragon.com. They make custom aluminum roll up covers that seem pretty cool. I thought they were expensive, but after reading all the other stuff, they seem to be OK and dont need any paint. They come in black. They quoted $695 for my quad cab. Kinda steep, but that's where everyone else is with paint, install and tax....
