Message: There isn't a shift kit made for the 45rfe. This tranny doesn't shift like older trannys such as the 46re 46rh etc. The 45rfe has no clutches because it is all computer controlled.
Heres some info copied from CW who is a chryler tech: There are no bands in the 45rfe just clutches that hold and release certain parts of the planetary gear. giving you different ratios including the double overdrive in the 5-45rfe. There are three planetarys in the 45rfe. All done with the computer telling which solenoids to apply or release in what ever order you want.

Message: hmmm....... so the 4.7 shouldn't need a shift kit? I notice a lot of lag in changing gears. When I put the throttle body on it made 3rd shift really freaking high, 5k -5500 in wot. I am scared something is going to break.

Message: Transgo had one in the werx, but I havent
heard any word on it... 5-5500K at wot is
normal. these tranny's shift so smooth it
makes me sick thinking about how much
wear and tear is goin on. harder shifts would
definately help with the life and performance
of the tranny. you might want to email Jonas
at www.premierautomotive.net I think he
would know about the kit, as he has so many
goodies in the works.
2001 4.7 CC shaved dropped slow...for now : )

Message: damn, I was like shift baby shift. I don't think iv ever been in a car that shifted that high, Im 16. It's tight though, i can definatly feel the power and can see myself gaining on them. I usually get behind in the first 1/4 the race because all I do is spin through the intersection. Nitto's don't stick worth CRAP unless they were melted before. But once I hit 40 mph, I'm neck and neck and 50 puts me in the lead! GOtta love it!

Message: The best part of the Kenne Bell Optimizer II is
the modification to the auto transmission. It
firms up the shifts. At WOT, it only falls off
200rpm. It's the next best thing to a shift kit that
is 3 years away. Transgo never did start on
our kit.
