Subject: rear axle squeak IP: Logged
Message: Folks,
My back axle makes a squeak when I hit any bumps on the road -- even small ones. Very quiet on smooth roads. It's not a big deal, but I'd rather do without it.
What squeaks in a rear axle (with limited slip) and is there a quick way to take care of it?
Thanks!

Message: bounce not jump in the bed see if it makes the squeak.its most likely the leaf springs making that noise. maybe one of the plastic shims came out?

Message: Could possibly be the sway bar bushings - if yours has a rear sway bar. Mine squeak a little bit.

Message: My 2000 did the same thing. Take it to the dealer. They should replace it for free. It's actually a TSB that DCX has out. They forgot to install isolaters between some of the leaf springs. Mine turned out to be a hanger bushing that was damaged, but they did the TSB fix anyways. Good luck.
