Subject: How do I test IACV
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi -

I keep getting the P1294 code on the check
engine light:

Haynes: Target Idle Not Reached. Actual Idle
speed does not equal target idle speed.

OBDII.com: Target RPM not achieved during
drive idle condition (possible vacuum leak or
IAC).

I cleaned the TB and IACV but the code came
back a couple of weeks later. Now I am
thinking to replace the IACV but don't want to
fix it if it's not broken. When I pull the cord from
IACV (the car is '99D 5.9L 50Kmiles) I see no
change in the way car is running. I read
somewhere that after removing the cord car
should stall or even die. Is that right?
thx,
M.

crap man, today i was idling and I went into 2nd gear, lmao, at idle i was accelrating. Got it up to 25 and I was like, this is wrong, but I never got a code. I popped the hood and played with the throttle cables and what not, and it fixed it for some reason.
