Subject: Running Rough IP: Logged
Message: My Dakota starts great, runs and idles great...until the temp. gage starts to raise and then it starts missing, cutting out, small amount of back firing. Any Suggestions
Changed the Coil, Wires, Plugs, Moudule plate? (inside the distrubutor), cap, rotor.
I'm at a loss on what to do next.

Message: Depending on the year, I believe 96 and up there is a coolant tempature sending unit in the intake manifold that sends information to the PCM which in turn with other sensors will control the fuel and timing curve. The sending unit on mine is black, with a two wire connector. The coolant temp sensor is gray with only a one wire conn. That is for the gauge in your dash.
The sending unit was $11 at local auto parts store.
With todays engines and computers, it could be a number of things.
