Subject: brake noise?? IP: Logged
Message: Hey ive got a noise in my front right wheel that i think has something to do with the brakes but im not positive. Every time the wheel makes a revolution, there is a tick or small knock noise. This gets very annoying very quickly especially on the freeway. The noise will stop with the slightest pressure applied to the brake pedal. As soon as you remove your foot off the brakes it starts again.
The problem began a few months after i had the brakes done at a shop. I initially thought that it was a warped rotor, but i had it turned and there is no pulsing in the brake pedal so i dont think that is the problem. I would take it back to the shop that did the work but it is now past its warranty and i would prefer to fix it myself. Any suggestions on the cure?? thanks

Message: Sounds to me that an anti-rattle clip has come off or come loose. An easy and cheap fix, but take it back to the place that did the work.

Message: Mine is doing the same, a snap noise every revolution from the right front caliper only when I apply pressure to the brakes.....After tearing the axle down completely & comparing it to the Dak manual I discovered the "mechanic" before me left all the sleeves (bushings) off the caliper slide pins! Ordered them today, only $9 for both calipers....
Check to see if they are required on yours...I have a 93....

Message: Matt....
I got the bushing kit yesterday. The bushing is a simple piece of teflon. I doubt if it will prevent the noise. Expected to install it tonight.
Have you pulled your wheel?? The only other item I have with wear marks is the adapter bracket the caliper itself mounts to. The ears of the disc pads wore a groove (.030 approx) into this bracket.
Is it possible the noise is created because the caliper is not able to float out of this groove??

Message: i havent had a chance to pull my wheel yet. i am planning to this weekend if the weather holds(hafta do it outside). i have noticed though that i every now and then get a pop in the breaks when i just lightly apply pressure on the pedal. ??? i dont know what causes that either. i may just head back to the shop and have them look at it.
can you turn your rotor with the wheel off and have it make the same noise? is it possible to hear it without the wheel on? i am gonna try these when i get a chance. hopefully i will have some useful info soon.
