Subject: Fuse Box Problems
IP: Logged

Message:
OK, I've been having problems with my radio cutting in and out. Took by the shop that installed it and we tracked it back to the fuse box. Some of the wires going into the fuse box have a bad connection. It also effects the dome light (not that it matters).

Anyway, any ideas on how can I correct this problem without taking it into the dealer? How hard would it be to pull the fuse box out and check the connections?

Thanks!

I would be careful. Check out this post. The trucks had problems with the radios before catching on fire. http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/1837.html

Gee Thanks 024.7qc - now I'm nervous!!!

Not too much though. I've had a hunch that there was a loose connection down there for a while and the guys at the audio shop tracked it and confirmed it for me. I'm gonna get up under there this weekend and see what it looks like. If it's obvious what's wrong, I'd like to try and fix it. Not sure if any of you guys have recommendations.

Thanks for the info though. It has prompted me to look into a fire extinguisher for my truck. Just in case for me or someone else. In all seriousness, you may have just saved someones life!

Thanks!

hey man.. its not much of a problem to take out your fuse box couple nuts/bolts and its out.. i had to take mine out to solder in a new connection to an empty socket.. as for the radio cuttin in and out problem.. check under the hood where the power goes into the fuse pannel there.. my connections wiggled loose there and radio cut in and out.. just a little bit for you to consider.. if you need anymore help or any other questions just ask..
