Subject: Aftermarket Ball Joint Logevity IP: Logged
Message: Well, its about time to get my ball joints replaced again on my ’99 Dakota SLT CC 4x4, only this time its not under warrantee. I was talking to one mechanic the other day and he said that it is very possible aftermarket ball joints won’t make a difference. While not familiar with this particular case, he sited other vehicles that the ball joints used on them were fine, but the front end was designed so poorly that it just stressed the ball joints out, so no matter what was used, premature failure was going to happen. I was wondering what kind of mileage others were getting out of the aftermarket ball joints compared to what they got with the stock ones.

Message: Well, I put the moog upper ball joints in my 99 and I've got about 10,000 miles on them with no problems. They hold the grease well as opposed to the stock non-greasable ones. I've only had to grease them once since March. No more popping noises for me.
